October
2024, viscosity intaglio prints on paper, variable dimensions. Variable edition of 16.
October is a month I dread. I see beauty in the changing seasons, but events in past years have plagued my appreciation for the month. This series of prints is my attempt to reframe my mindset towards October. By stamping the form of fallen leaves in varied stages of decay to etch the plate (using the sugar lift method by coating the leaves in molasses), I represent the transition of my perspective. The process-based nature of printmaking puts me into a peaceful and meditative state. Creating these prints allowed me an opportunity to reflect and deconstruct my complicated past with October and reframe my personal narrative into a product of beauty.
